About Us
Since 2012, Concrete Studio has been refining the art and science of Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). Concrete Studio School brings that experience into the classroom, we share the same commercial techniques, workflows and practical knowledge we use in our own studio with students from around the world.
Why We Started Teaching
For years, we received the same questions from designers, builders, makers and business owners looking to work with GFRC. Much of the information available online was incomplete, outdated or based on trial and error.
Rather than keeping our methods behind closed doors, we decided to build the training we wished had existed when we started.
Our courses focus on practical skills, commercial workflows and the reasoning behind every stage of production, giving students the confidence to create professional-quality GFRC products.

Meet the People Behind the Training
Our courses are taught by the team behind Concrete Studio, combining years of commercial manufacturing and hands-on teaching experience.

Phil Mark Martin // Founder + Lead Instructor
Phil teaches our online courses and leads our in-person workshops in Australia and Spain. He shares the commercial GFRC methods, workflows and manufacturing systems developed through more than a decade of professional concrete production.
Students learn the same proven techniques, processes and practical problem-solving methods used every day at Concrete Studio.

Ilka Heller // Head of Design + Operations
Ilka leads operations for our Australian studio and supports students attending our in-person workshops. With over 20 years' experience in interior design and project management, she helps create a welcoming learning environment while bringing valuable design expertise and real-world project experience to every workshop.
Students attending our Australian workshops also benefit from Ilka's design perspective, gaining practical insights into creating products that are both technically sound and beautifully resolved.

Brent Gilham // GFRC + Mould Technician
Brent is our senior GFRC technician and mould specialist. Working alongside Phil throughout our Australian workshops and featured throughout our online training, he demonstrates the practical techniques used in our commercial manufacturing process, from mould making and reinforcement through to finishing and quality control.
His practical demonstrations give students an inside look at the techniques, craftsmanship and attention to detail behind every Concrete Studio product.

Our Teaching Philosophy
Our goal isn't simply to teach you how to cast concrete. It's to help you understand why each stage matters, so you can solve problems, improve your own methods and continue developing long after the course is finished.
Whether you're creating furniture, architectural products, sculptures or launching a manufacturing business, our focus is on giving you practical skills that can be applied with confidence.
